For the Crab:
- 4–6 soft shell crabs (cleaned)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup cornmeal (for extra crispiness)
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- Salt & black pepper (to taste)
- 1 egg (beaten)
- Oil (for frying)
For the Slaw:
- 1 cup shredded cabbage (green or purple)
- ½ carrot (julienned)
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- Salt to taste
For the Sauce:
- 3 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp sriracha (adjust for heat)
- 1 tsp honey
- 1 tsp lime juice
For Assembly:
- 6–8 small tortillas (corn or flour)
- Fresh cilantro leaves
- Lime wedges
๐น Preparation Steps
1. Prepare the Crabs
- Rinse and pat dry the soft shell crabs.
- Season lightly with salt and pepper.
2. Coating
- In a bowl, mix flour, cornmeal, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Dip each crab into beaten egg, then coat evenly in the flour mixture.
3. Frying
- Heat oil (medium-high, ~180°C).
- Fry crabs for 3–4 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
- Remove and drain on paper towel.
4. Make the Slaw
- Combine cabbage, carrot, mayonnaise, lime juice, and salt.
- Mix well and chill slightly.
5. Prepare the Sauce
- Mix mayonnaise, sriracha, honey, and lime juice until smooth.
6. Assemble Tacos
- Warm tortillas.
- Place crispy crab on each tortilla.
- Top with slaw, drizzle sauce, and garnish with cilantro.
- Serve with lime wedges.
